UNIVERSITI MALAYA MAINTAINS LEADING POSITION IN QS ASIA UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2025


Universiti Malaya (UM) is proud to announce its continued success in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, securing 12th place out of 984 universities in Asia, 3rd in Southeast Asia, and 1st in Malaysia. This achievement underscores UM’s dedication to academic excellence, impactful research, and a vibrant and diverse learning environment.

In the 2025 edition, UM increased its overall score by 4.6 points, affirming its standing above the regional median. As Malaysia’s top institution and the third-ranked university in Southeast Asia, UM remains a leading force in advancing higher education standards across the region.

Key factors contributing to UM's success include strong scores in International Research Network, Employer Reputation, Academic Reputation and Inbound Exchange Students. These achievements reflect UM’s ongoing efforts to foster global partnerships, attract distinguished expertise, and prepare graduates for success in a globalized world.

“I am very pleased that Universiti Malaya continues to elevate Malaysia’s profile globally through our commitment, dedication, and hard work—not only for our nation but for the world and civilisations. With our new tagline, Home of the Bright, Land of the Brave, UM will continue to strive for excellence in making a positive change to the future generations and the resilience of our shared civilisational progress,” Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaya, Professor Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman, shared his pride.

“Universiti Malaya is guided by three main principles: holistic community engagement, industrialisation of the university, and internationalisation of its global reputation, standards and standing. The institution aims to sustain and enhance its strategic and critical position as the nation’s foremost leader and innovator in academic and research excellence, pioneering new breakthroughs for global advancement and humanity,” Professor Noor Azuan added.

The Vice-Chancellor extended his gratitude to the entire UM community— including academic and administrative staff, students, partners, and collaborators—for their dedication and contributions. He also expressed appreciation for the steadfast support of UM’s Chancellor, Pro-Chancellors, Board of Directors, and the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia.
